Hiking trails of Cape Town

Cape Town hiking trails.

For those who want to get close to nature, we have hiking trails in the cities Table Mountain National park, and  further out at the spectacular Kogelburg biosphere, only 1.5 hours from Cape Town.

Our Table Mountain Hike.

The water trail.  Four to six hours,  we take the hike up from Constantia Nek at the rear of Table Mountain, on the top we will trek to the 4 dams up here that are not visible when assending table mountain with the Cable Car.

Fitness level. Good.  Elevation climbing with stops at each dam on the way up, with great views at the top. And opportunities for swimming in the dams.

 The Kogleberg Biosphere nature trek.

We first head to the Kogleburg Nature Reserve, here we will first take the 2.5 hour Palmiet River trail.  Fullday tour, with Antelope and leopard and other animals inhabiting the reserve, makes for exciting possibilities of animal viewings.  This is also the home of the Protea floral kingdon, with the finest examples of the king protea in abundance here, as well as the birdlife.  We will take a lunch break in Kleinmond.  In the afternoon we will walk the trail boardwalk from Kleinmond along the coastline east to the lagoon and the heads of the Bot River lagoon, where flamingo, pelican and fish eagle can be seen in the lagoon, a herd of wild horses, also roam freely in this area.

Fitness level. Good.  Gentle elevation climb on this route.  No hills on this path on the Bot River coastal trail..
